As part of our 2014 resolutions, Dino and I promised to travel with Liam more this year. Last holy week,(yeah I know, suuuper late post again) Our original plan was to go to CDO and let Liam experience the white water rafting then spend the rest of the holy week in Malai Balai (It’s soo nice there, promise! It’s like you’re in New Zealand). But our good friend, suggested that we do it some other time as there are many tourist and travelers during holy week. So instead of staying at home, I decided to book ourselves in a resort hotel nearby.
We booked ourselves in Best Western Sandbar Resort at Cordova Mactan Cebu (check out their official website). It wasn’t that pricey and they are the only hotel that did not increase so much during peak season (1K additional only). Swak na swak sa budget! 🙂
We also decided to go yaya-less this trip. Asked Ate Donna to do a general cleaning instead. Unfortunately, Dino was not feeling very well during the trip, so most of the photos you’ll see below are of me and Liam.
It wasn’t as grand as the Shangri-La Hotel, but it was cozy and we had a fun time together. As they say, it’s not important how expensive or how grand the place is, as long as we are all together, that’s what matters!
Oh yes!! At long last, we were able to meet Familia Kiki during the holidays when we were in Manila (yeah, this is another late post. Sowee). Leah, my SIL, was the one who introduced me to their blog, and I got hooked to their site ever since. I even wished that we’re neighbors. Hehe
With only a few days in Manila, I was glad that they are also available on the date we set. I’ve let Maqui do the planning (Thanks Maqui! :)) as this was the first time Liam (we) will have a playdate. We agreed to meet in Book Sale MCS, since it was books that made us bond on the first place.
Am doubly glad that Leah is also available and offered to be the photographer that day (Thanks Ninang!!). hehe I will not make this text heavy and will let the photos tell the story. 🙂
After the staffs shooed us out of the store (nakahalata na tambay lang kame, hehe) – this is a joke, we walked across the street and had Dinner in Amizi. It’s an Italian resto beside Don Bosco Makati that have super nice Gelato and oh! their pizza and pasta were also so great. YUM!
After our filling dinner, we all walked to Waltermart where we dropped by Japan Homes and let the kids play in TimeZone. We don’t have that much photos anymore, as Leah has to do some wifely duties. hehehe Liam and Aki don’t play the same games, but there is one game they loved – Go Go Balls!
Liam and I really had fun that night. Liam was still talking about Aki and Bem bem til now (mental note: buy Liam Bey blades.. hehe) Enjoyed good company, new friends and the chit chats!
To Familia Kiki, thank you so much for taking time out to meet us and for the dinner too. Hope to see you guys again soon. Wish ko makasama kame sa mga playdates nyo. 🙂
I have a lot of things that I look forward to during our Christmas breaks and here’s another one from my long list – family reunion with my side of the family. I know after 2 years of blogging, it’s just now that am sharing photos of them. As you may have known by now, am really not a good a lazy photographer. I would rather absorb and enjoy the moment than taking pictures. heheh… I always leave that job – taking picture – to Dino or to my nieces (when it come to my side of the family). But my niece lost our files twice! First, her bag was snatched then 2nd time her memory card was corrupted. Talk about luck! Oh well, this time around I really did not stop texting her (read: everyday!) to upload our pics in FB. 🙂
So last December, we all agreed to do it in my 2nd brother’s house again. His house kasi is nearer to de Leon’s abode and they are the one who always cooks, I got it from them actually. I always bother help them in cooking as early as 8 years old. Anyway, sayang lang, 3 of my brothers were not able to go. 2 of them works abroad and the eldest have a late shift that day. Same goes with his kids (except his youngest son) and his wife, they were also not able to come.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s they are – My Family
Hopefully, next time all the other Apo’s will be able to join us. Anyway, Liam loves going to his diku’s (that’s what he calls my 2nd bro) house. He’s the youngest kasi among his cousins kaya super baby nila si Liam. Ako naman, pag andito ako, relax ako, since I can leave Liam with all her achi’s and ahya’s. hehehe.. So while the bagets are playing, the oldies naman kanya kanyang kwentuhan. We usually play exchange gifts but this year, nobody remembered to initiate! hahaha..
One of my favorite gifts that Liam got last Christmas came from my sister. She gave me all the Chinese paraphernalia (books, flash cards and writing papers) that yanyan used since she was in preschool. Cool no? My sis kasi is Ms. keep it all. Walang tapon sa kanya. hehe
Oh yeah! there are 2 more reasons why Liam loves visiting his Diku’s house. First is to see Kong kong (my 2nd SIL’s nephew), his playmate and also because, I let him indulge whenever we are here. Since I know he’ll be given candies and junk food there, I made sure that he had his dinner first before we left Kumati.
Sorry this is the only foto he has that night. A little boy made him cry. hehehe… Kong kong’s current Favorite toy is his ‘plane’ made of blocks. He doesn’t want anyone to touch or borrow it, not even Liam. He is not madamot naman, he lends everything to Liam except for the plane. While playing, kong kong put the toy at his back so Liam can’t reach it. After a while, Liam saw it and get it from his back.
Kongkong: WAAAAAAH!!! Mama Beth! Mama Beth!!
Liam: What happened?? (patay malisya ang loko)
Everyone burst into laughter.. hahahaha
I saw a post in FB before – what makes holidays (Christmas) special. For me, this definitely is it! 🙂
It has now become a de Leon tradition to have a pictorial while we wait for the New Year to come in. We started doing this last 2011 when Liam was only 1. I bought red Angry Bird shirts for the 3 of us and since we are in red na, my MIL decided that we all wear red for the night to bring in luck and para maganda din ang pics. Last year, we decided to wear green, since this is the feng sui color for 2013. (see our 2011 and 2013 year end pictorials here)
This year, feng sui color is still green, and we want it to be different from last year, so I checked the net what the color trend for 2014 is and that decided what our motif will be. Am glad naman that everyone was so game and even bought their shirts just for the pictorial.
and some bonus shots….
Liam’s now starting to get interested in taking shots. Sana matuto and maging magaling like his dad. Yun lang, sayang ang kagwapuhan if he’ll always be behind the cam lang. hehehehe.. just saying..
Am hoping to have more pictorials this year. Am planning to have an outdoor pictorial. Sana matuloy.
Stay tuned pala for our Picture company experience. (I have yet to go back and choose which pics to buy – oh my!!)
Merry Christmas everybody! 🙂 Hope you all had a nice one together with your loved ones. We had a simple celebration here in Cebu. Dino and I decided to spend Christmas here in Cebu for a change. We invited my in-laws to come over but air fare was too high already (since we decided to stay here the last minute na din) so everyone decided to stay put in our own cities. This is the first time we will spend it na kame lang. A bit nervous at first that Liam might not enjoy it, he might not have gifts to open and what I’ll prepare for Noche Buena. Pero everything turned out well naman.
So for the first time in my 34 years of year of life, I prepared Noche Buena all by myself. Sorry, did not do it by myself pala, I had Donna and Ate Lilia to help me pa din. When I was younger, I do help my sis in law (bro’s wifey) in preparing, but it’s always her who has the final say on what we’ll have. This past years naman, we always spend it with Dino’s family, so it’s my in-laws who takes care of the Noche Buena. 🙂
Anyway, here’s what we had for Noche Buena…
I baked Flan cake for the occasion, after all, it’s Baby Jesus’ birthday we are celebrating, right? and what’s a birthday celebration without a cake!? 🙂 (see the recipe here)
For our appetizer, I prepared my SIL’s bacon wrapped asparagus, she prepared this for everyone last year (see her post here). This is sooo yummy that I don’t want to share these with them, pero it’s Christmas and it’s the season if sharing. hehehe..
For our main course, I cooked Chicken and Seafood Paella paired with Lumpiang Shanghai. If there’s one thing I don’t like here in Cebu, that’s the salty lumpia warpper.. 😦 I think they do it to make the wrappers last longer. Pero we still finished everything. hehehe..
For dessert, I asked Donna to prepare Buko Lychee Salad. She’s been preparing this quite a number times this year already. That’s why I called this her specialty na. She knows the timpla already, not too sweet, not too bland and not too creamy din! 🙂
We had a blast. They all loved the food prepared. Liam opened a lot of gifts too (will have a separate post for this). Of course, we won’t forget to blow a candle for Jesus. 🙂
Ever since the hubs handled Columbia Sportswear brand, he goes to the US for sales meeting twice a year. One of which always falls on my birthday. 2010 was an exception (not the meeting date, but Dino did not attend since I just gave birth to Liam then. This year, Dino was able to fix his schedule so he can fly back to Manila night of my special day. At least for 2 hrs he will be able to celebrate it with me. Unfortunately, his flight was delayed and he was home few hours after midnight. Talk about irony.
Day before our trip, knowing that we’ll be out of town for my birthday, our Cebu staffs sent me a cake for my birthday. To Liam delight.. 🙂 As usual, my little helped blow the candle and he helped himself with a slice. 🙂 Ever since we came here to Cebu, our staffs never failed to make our day more special. I feel loved. 🙂
Morning of our flight, we decided to bake Calamansi cupcakes and Carrot cupcakes as pasalubong. I was so organized then, preparing one after the other. That’s why when the oven decided to break down on me, both recipes were half baked. GRRR!!! Anywya, Liam had fun doing it naman. Will just bake some more for Christmas. 🙂
Liam, Donna and I flew to Manila 31st of October for my MIL’s birthday. We were picked up by Lolo and Lola and dinner was waiting for us at home. My SIL, Leah, and his hubby, AJ prepared their famous Yogurt Chicken, Pesto Pasta and their luscious Chocolate Cake for Lola. To my son’s delight, he loved the Chocolate Ganache!
Every all saint’s day, I always help my mom out with the offering and all the rituals. But since I moved to Cebu and had Liam, I wasn’t able to this anymore. Even now that we are in Manila, I begged off since we don’t like bringing kids to such places. I’ll wait for Liam to grow a little more older before introducing him to that.
So what do we do on a free day. Leah and I decided to go to Ace Water Spa in Pasig. It was really nice and fun there. Liam loved it so much that he is still asking me if we can go back there until now. the water is warm so it’s ok to stay there for hours without worrying that the little one is getting cold na. There are so many babies there, even saw a new born in the kiddie pool with the yaya of course. We had a great time but not much pics since they don’t allow picture taking from time you get into the shower area until you are done. I appreciate this policy though. 🙂
On my birthday, we only stayed home to prepare for dinner. Liam, on the other hand, played and make himself busy. Since we are only staying for 4 nights, the in laws decided not to take all the toys out. This made me realize one thing, it’s true when other mommies say that imagination and creativity comes out naturally with kids when they have only few toys.
Lolo brought out the toy gun Liam got last Christmas, after playing with the gun (as a gun), it then became a horse, which later became an iron. hehe Liam loves (understatement) playing cars – REAL cars. He likes the steering wheel, the gear and now he met the pedals. Anyway, we were not able to bring any of his driving toys, so made use of the drawer handles. He said it’s his steering wheel and he has an imaginary kambyo (gear). Oh, by the way, there are 3 drawers on Lolo’s bed, one drawer is Hi Ace, the other is Pajeyow and the last one is Starrex. Funny little boy. 🙂
Before lunchtime, Ninang came down and do the stamp project with Liam, which later became their Tattoo. At the end of the session, Liam looked like a battered child with all the purple ink on his arms and legs. Ninang and I were not spared and have a lot of “tattoo’ on our arms as well.
That night, my in laws prepared some ‘handa’ for my birthday. noodles, chicken and pork spring rolls. My cousin dropped by to see Liam and of course celebrate my birthday with us. 🙂
The following day, we drove to Tagaytay and visited Leah’s friend’s farm to see the horses and the piggies. Liam just got up but he had fun seeing the plants and the animals there. We then had lunch at The Dining Room, Gourmet Farms. (see Leah’s post about it here). We then visited Lola Sexy’s (Ate Caro, Leah’s officemate) house and check out her Christmas decors.
After his afternoon nap, we went to see my side of the family. We went to Pandacan (my second brother, Jerry’s house) where my mom agreed to meet with us. You see my mom lived in very Farview (Fairview) and she usually stays with my bro. (hehe disclaimer agad). He enjoyed our stay there since he have a new playmate – Kongkong (my SIL’s – Jerry’s wife – nephew). They played from the time we stepped foot there til before we said our goodbyes. Sayang lang, since am not very good at taking pics, wala nanaman kameng pictures. Haist!!
Oh forgot to mention, Liam was so happy when he saw the tree being set up at Lola sexy’s home, Dino then agreed to buy one here in Cebu. This was already part of my plan, but was pushed back with all the happening here. But again, as my new matra goes, I refuse to live in fear, there are indeed a lot of reasons to love and life to the fullest.
All in all it was another well spent vacation in Manila. Til our next trip. 🙂
We started our day 2 early. Well, as you may have already read before, Liam is an early riser (another trait he got from his dad, definitely not mine.. hehe). Pati ang ninong at ninang nagising ng maaga. hehe Since our room does not come with free breakfast, the godparents bought bread, spreads and some snacks too. I brought some instant noodles naman for all. And for Liam, we ordered pancakes and omelet from the restaurant.
After our hearty breakfast, we decided to have an early swim. Liam scrutinized and ransacked the cabana first before we hit the pool. being the praning mommy that I am, I forced asked him to wear his floating vest which took me a while to convince him and to which, I also agreed him to remove after a while. Not sure if it’s really like that or maybe because I bought the cheap kind, the hems are rubbing his skins causing his skin to redden. Mas takot ako magka blisters anak ko, so I allowed him to remove na.
If you’re wondering where his ninang is, nag solo sa beach trying to find a “catch” hehe. We joined Tin sa beach after 2 hrs in the pool (longest for Liam). But I felt Liam is cold na, so we decided to troop back to barracks and relax a bit before our lunch. We had our lunch there again (one thing I don’t like here is having very few choices for our meals). Liam and Tin enjoyed the trampoline after lunch before we head back to the city.
Again, Liam was sleeping all the way back home. we all played (and drank a bit – Liam drank pineapple juice of course) before finally calling it a day. 🙂
At age 2 years 10 months, Liam knows what holiday is na. Yes, he will always say.. “Mommy, you don’t have office today? Today is holiday!” Hay… Yan lang masasabi ko. I always explain to him though what day it really is and what holiday is. For him kasi, Holiday means no office and play day. Oh well, I know for sure, many working mommies can feel me.
Anyway, last holiday for August, our long time friends and travel buddies Ken and Tin decided to spend the long weekend with us here in Cebu. Last trip we had with them was last April 2010. The gang decided to visit us here in Cebu before they all go to Bohol.
This time around, Dino felt it’s time to break Liam in to the outdoors. We decided to drive all the way to Moal Boal and spend the day at the beach. Ninong Ken and Ninang Tin arrived cebu at the break of dawn. We left a little after lunch (Liam’s nap time).
Liam enjoyed playing making fun of his Ninang.
When we arrived, while Dino and Ken are registering, Liam requested to get out of the car to look at the pond. Sad to say, no fishes there. But he enjoyed looking at the little falls.
Oh yeah, we checked in at Club Serena Resort. It’s a bit pricey but it was so nice there. The room was big and clean. The outdoor bathroom is super nice (good for couples who are honeymooning) and it also have a separate comfort room. It was really worth the price. You may check out their site to see more.
We snacked a little and prepared to hit the pool. But weather that day is not on our side, it was so windy and it started to drizzle. So we had to get out of the pool and stay in our rooms til dinner time.
While waiting for our dinner, Liam enjoyed playing in the other room. Nakalimutan ng may nanay at tatay na ang hihintay sa kabila. We got rooms next to each other with balconies na kayang i-ober da bakod. So it is very easy mangapitbahay.
While waiting for our dinner, Liam was busy ransacking the other room. He played hide and seek (hiding behind the curtains) and jumping on Ninang Tin’s bed. I can hear them shouting even with the thick wall in between us. hehehe.. Sa kabusyhan sa pag alaga kay Liam, they were not able to take any pictures na.. hehe.. As per Ninang Tin, she almost had a heart attack sa likot ng inaanak nya. hehe
We planned to have a little drink before hitting bed. But after putting Liam to sleep, everyone was so tired that we decided to call it a night.
Watch out for the second installment of our adventure.
Before I finally end this post, here’s how the beach look like..
Don’t we just all love holidays. For most, this will mean more me-time, Travel time, relax relax, and more time to do personal stuff. But for us, this means more time with Liam.
Since we transferred to our new home, Liam was not able to ride the padyak (pedicab here in Cebu) and Jeepney anymore. So Dino and I decided that it will be our commute day yesterday.
We started walking from our house to the padyak terminal (as per Dino, it’s about half km). We think this is the farthest Liam had walked in his life (hehe). Sa layo, he asked us in the middle of walking.. “Mom, Where is Kumati (Makati)??” hahahaha..
Liam is really a big boy na. He don’t want to sit on my lap anymore and wants to be seated at the estero side. Poor Daddy have to sit at the front seat (facing us). When we’re still staying in the office, Liam used to ride padyak every morning when he gets up and every afternoon after his afternoon nap.
We rode the padyak upto the jeepney terminal and like before, Liam wants to sit in front. Now it’s mommy turn to sit at the back. When Liam got a little older (before he turned 2), instead of padyak in the morning, Dino used to take him on jeepney rides every morning as part of their bonding. They will buy bread and look at the fishes along the park. They did this for a while too, that Liam recognize the place even upto now. He knows that he is in IT Park and where he can the fishes.
Oh and yes, another thing, this trip also proved that Liam is really a good listener. This is his conversation with his dad while in the jeep.
Liam: Dad, kuya is using kambyo..
Daddy: Yes.
Liam: Pajero don’t need kambyo, because it’s automatic na.
Daddy smiles knowing that he got it from him. (they had the pajero gear conversation 2 weeks earlier and never did Liam mentioned it until yesterday)
Anyway, we watched the fishes and play a little with the fountains and had breakfast in Jollibee, We used to do this during weekends before he turned 2. Lately kasi, we just drive thru Jollibee for weekend breakfast. After that, as a bonus….
..we rode the taxi going home. One of his requests din for the longest time is to ride a taxi. A bit weird, kasi there are times when he will tell us that he don’t want to ride Hi-Ace anymore and he wants to ride taxi instead. He was ecstatic when we told him that we’re riding taxi going home!
We let Liam swim in his pool after our mini trip and played all day. Now, we are looking forward to our long weekend together.
Our holy week vacation in Makati marked Liam’s many firsts.
First Mega block Building…
First Antipolo trip. It’s a de Leon tradition to go to Antipolo every Maundy Thursday. Before, Dino used to walk from Makati to Antipolo and meet his parents there then he will ride back with them going home.
First Laguna Trip with my side of the family. Dino and I were really happy that Liam is not shy anymore. As soon as we reach the resort, he let my brother carry him and said hi to all his cousins, blessed his Ahma (Grandma, my mom) and played with everyone. He even played with the other kids that night, forgetting all about me (another first – Ouch!!)
First time to let another girl ride with him.. (another OUCH for mommy.. hehe)
First time to let Ninang Jane carry him with matching photo opt, kiss, hug and gigil pa.. 🙂 Every time we go home (Makati) Ninong Rene and Ninang Jane (together with Ahya Sean and Ahya Matt) never failed to come and visit Liam, not just once but at least 3x in each visit. 🙂
My SIL also blogged about our vacation. First about our Antipolo trip and Liam’s 2 weeks vacation where there are more pics than my post. (yeah, yeah, I know, am bad in documenting events.. This mommy will get there soon.. hehehe…)
