Happy 3rd Birthday Liam!

“I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough “Hello’s” to get you through the final “Goodbye.”
— Bob Perks

To our ever cute and sweet darling baby boy,

"We refuse to live in fear,
“We refuse to live in a life of fear, there are more reasons to love life.” (taken from Dino’s FB post)

First of all, I want to greet you a belated happy birthday.  As fast as the year have passed, you’ve also grown up so fast.  You’re taller, smarter, funnier, kulit-er (if there’s such a word) and more talkative than ever.

You are more confident and independent now, not shy approaching others and talking to them.  Dancing in front of a crowd or at the stage.  You know our routine na every morning when we have to go to office, never have to cry and ran after us. You are also becoming more curious by the day, that you always ask us what happened or how something happened, what a word mean and tries to use it on your own in every possible way.

I know I say you are talkative but that’s not a bad thing at all.  You always know how to express yourself.  You also have a way with your words that you can have whatever you want.  I remember your summer teacher telling me that you can be a lawyer.  You are witty and never runs out of reasons.  You are  so fast that we can’t fool you around.  You always notice it when we misused a word or said something wrong, never afraid to correct us and laugh with us and I love that about you, anak.

As I told you last year, we are going to have a lot of fighting days.  Am sure that it will be more this year.  Then again, please keep in mind that whatever fights we may have that you will never be loved less.  That if we do it, it means we love you enough to correct you.  We just have to do what must be done to discipline you and prepare you to be the man that you will proud of.

Liam, please never stop being the funny smart little charmer that you are.  Your smile and sweet hugs never fail to brighten up even the most gloomy room.  Always remember that mommy and daddy will always have your back and that whatever we do we are always thinking of you.

Happy Birthday little boy.  I wish you enough…  We love you.  🙂

Mommy

PS, we did not have that much fight naman this year. very petty and you learn fast that’s why we don’t need to fight again and again. Thank you for that anak.

20 Things (A Letter to Liam)

Dear Liam,

There are so many things I want to tell you and don’t know how to put them in words. Luckily, a friend of mine tagged me in her FB post. I think this is perfect.  Most of the things I want to tell you is here na and may additions pa. 🙂

TWENTY THINGS A MOM SHOULD TELL HER SON

1. Play a sport.
It will teach you how to win honorably,
lose gracefully, respect authority,
work with others, manage your time
and stay out of trouble.
And maybe even throw or catch.

Mommy’s note:  Aside from all that, it will keep you healthy and there will be a reason for me to cheer for you. 🙂 (okay, I promise to try my best not to be a staged mother.. hehehehe Pero son, you have to understand that we are so proud of you, kaya ganun.. 🙂

2. You will set the tone for the sexual relationship.
So don’t take something away from her
that you can’t give back.

Mommy’s note:  Make sure that you are both ready. If possible (I hope it will still be possible sa generation nyo), do it with someone you want to spend the rest of your life with.

3. Use careful aim when you pee.
Somebody’s got to clean that up, you know.

Mommy’s note:  Funny, but so true diba!? so please…

4. Save money when you’re young
because you’re going to need it someday.

5. Allow me to introduce you
to the dishwasher, oven,
washing machine, iron,
vacuum, mop and broom.
Now please go use them.

6. Pray and be a spiritual leader.

7. Don’t ever be a bully
and don’t ever start a fight,
but if some idiot clocks you,
please defend yourself.

Mommy’s note: I had a post about this already.   One of the things I pray that I can instill in you is how to be nice, but not so nice that others will take advantage of you.  How to be tough, but not so tough that you will bully others. Oh well, I know your mabait naman (now that you’re only 2, that is).

8. Your knowledge and education is something that nobody can take away from you.

Mommy’s note:  Not only your knowledge and education but your integrity. All these can bring you somewhere someday. And anak, integrity will make you sleep well every night.

9. Treat women kindly.

Forever is a long time to live alone
and it’s even longer to live with somebody
who hates your guts.

Mommy’s note:   I hope you’ll learn this from you dad.  🙂

10. Take pride in your appearance.

Mommy’s note:  Do I need to say more? 🙂

11. Be strong and tender at the same time.

12. A woman can do everything that you can do.
This includes her having a successful career
and you changing diapers at 3 A.M.
Mutual respect is the key to a good relationship.

Mommy’s note:  Have I already told you how your dad used to wake up during midnight when your still an infant to help mommy prepare you milk? or change you diaper? or just sit, talk and play with you? Yes, he did all that.. 🙂

13. “Yes ma’am” and “yes sir”
still go a long way.

14. The reason that they’re called “private parts”
is because they’re “private”.
Please do not scratch them in public.

Mommy’s notes:  This is one thing that irritates me! Uuuhg!!

15. Peer pressure is a scary thing.
Be a good leader and others will follow.

Mommy’s note:  Remember how daddy always tell you that you are the leader of the pact.  I know you’ll be. 🙂

16. Bringing her flowers for no reason is always a good idea.

Mommy’s note: Do you remember how you go to one of the Lola (our neighbor) to ask for flowers?  or how you ask Kuya Lucio to jump to pick those bougainvilleas?  Ahhh.. you are my sweet little boy.  You’ll come home and excitedly give me those flowers. 🙂

17. Be patriotic.

Mommy’s note:  Not so much of this.. 🙂

18. Potty humor isn’t the only thing that’s humorous.

19. Please choose your spouse wisely.
My daughter-in-law will be the gatekeeper for me
spending time with you and my grandchildren.

Mommy’s note:  Not only that, remember that she will be the one you will be spending the rest of your life with. So you better choose wisely.

20. Remember to call your mother because I might be missing you.

There, I think this letter said it all, at least for now.  ohh.. I think it lacks one more thing…

21.  Anak, I love you so much. 🙂

Happy 2nd Birthday Liam!

Happy Birthday my Darling baby boy!

This is your first official pictorial with Daddy. Official kasi, you posed on your own na. peeking at the cam’s LCD to check how it looks.. 🙂

Today, in just about an hour, you’ll officially be 2 years old!  What do they call it? Terrible Twos?  Hmmm.. before I even fret about that, there are some things I want to tell you first.

Have we told you how happy and proud we are of you?  One year ago, you don’t even know how to walk and your only word is mymy.  Now, you’re everywhere.. Running here and there.  Dancing! Singing! Talking endlessly.  You can even recount to us your morning routine with daddy.  You also know how to explain things to us when we can’t understand your words.  Ahh.. you’re our smart little boy.

You’ve come a long way din this year.  I can’t forget the first time we brought you to school for your assessment, you had a crying pit that time. Pero now, you always look forward to going to school. Saying Marj! maju Marj every now and then.  You now agree to wear your collared uniform and socks too.  We can see that you’re enjoying and that you’re learning a lot.  And that’s all we need to know.

Liam, now that you’re 2, for sure we will have a lot of fighting days.  There will be times when mommy or daddy will get mad and raise our voice at you.  Yes, you should be scared but it doesn’t mean that we love you less, if not the same but more.  This just mean that we’re getting to know each other more and that we just want you to grow up to be the best person you can be.

Lastly, anak, I want you to know that I always thank God for having you.  You are our greatest joy and blessing.  I also pray to God for your good health, that we may always have enough to provide for all your needs.  I pray that He give us enough wisdom so we can guide you through the harsh reality of this world we live in.  That whenever you’re hurt or can’t understand why things are happening, that we may be wise enough to help you get pass all that.

Anak, always remember that mommy and daddy will always be here for you and that how old you may be, you’ll always be our darling baby boy.

Love you,

Mommy

Because of You… (Letter to Liam)

Dear Liam,

Because of you..

  • Daddy became the best cowboy in the whole wild west – he learned to draw his iPhone as quick as he can to show off your photos and videos
  • Mommy wants to be a good cook – I, on the other hand, want to learn how to cook.  Good enough for you to look back and remember how home smells like.  For us to have a family recipe na pag laki mo you will come home and ask me to cook it for you, cause no one cooks it like mommy does. hehehe.. Pero seriously, I see us having dinner every night and have fun and talk around our dining table. Like we used to do (and still does) with your Wowo, Wowa, Ninang Tita and Tito AJ.
  • Mommy became an early riser – I know am still the last one to get out of bed, pero maaga na yan anak. You and Daddy always wake up early, basta may araw na.. you’re both up. Though I don’t get out of bed agad, I love seeing you wake up in the morning. All smiles calling Daddy then Mommy. Always excited to start your day.
  • We can act like kids again – you allowed us to be childish again. playing with you inside Toy Kingdom (that’s your favorite place right now), run with you at the park, enjoy all the zoo animals and act crazily to hear your infectious laughter (this always give us, you included, a good laugh)
  • We argue a lot – not in a bad way anak, we usually argue about kanino ka nag mana. We like taking credits from your looks to your bibo ways.  Pati na kapilyuhan mo, inaako na namen.
  • We became bloggers – Well, mommy decided to start up this blog to document all your developments, milestones and antics.  So we will have something to look at later when you’re older. As you may have notice na, Mommy is not a good writer. Pero sige lang.. for you, I’ll keep on blogging.
  • We are now home bodies – before we had you, we like travelling. With you around, we’d rather stay home or go to ’em em’ (SM) with you.  We don’t regret not being able to travel anymore but look forward to the day we will travel with you.
  • We became more responsible – working harder, thinking twice before spending, making sure that we’ll be able to give you a good future. Always putting your needs on top of everything.
  • Most important of all, we became parents, your parents.

Anak, many things have changed from them moment we learnt that am pregnant.  Pero everything is for the better.  You made us strive to be the best that we can be and I thank you for that. I thank you for coming into our lives.

We love you very much anak.

Mommy

This is our 2nd Family picture. Ung first kasi naten, you were so small sa pic.. that’s why am using this.. and anak, ang manas ko pa dun.. hehehe.. 🙂

Letters to Liam: Away in BKK

Hmm.. August 2012 flew by so fast.   I will have to sit down one day to post all past events last August.  Pero for now, I will posts some letters I wrote to Liam during my 4 days BKK escapde.

September 5, 2012 (17:00)

Dear Liam,

Hi anak, mommy is in an airplane right now and mommy is thinking of you.  Mommy is going to Thailand with Ninang Joni and will be back in 4 days.  I’m not sure if you know what’s happening na.  Pero I have talked to you already this past 2 days that i’ll be gone for a few days and you seem not to mind.  Guess, you know na better pag wala si mommy kasi wala maingay? hehe..   One thing am sure though, that you’ll be ok while mommy is gone, kasi daddy is with you.  Wowo and wawa also flew in today to be with you (siguro they are in there na with you while am writing this).

It’s true pala what your AE Jess told  me when I told her that am worried that you will look for me while am gone and baka you will cry when you miss me.  She told me that you will be fine and that mommy will be the one who will restless kasi now palang am missing you na.

This is not the first time naman that we’ll not be together, mommy went to Dumaguete last month, pero that was one night lang.  But boy!  Mommy was so proud of you that time, they said you looked for me, but didn’t cry when you were told that I was not home and that ate Donna and ate Lilia lang will sleep with you.

Hay anak, I can’t wait for you to grow older and bigger.  With your curious mind and your love for outdoors, for sure you would enjoy traveling as much as your daddy and I do.  Mommy have a list of places i want to bring you na.

Oh, my plane is taking off na,  I can’t write any further, or else I’ll get dizzy.  I will call you later before we really leave for Bangkok.  Miss you already.
Love, mommy

Hi baby,

Just finished chatting with daddy and am sad, kasi I missed talking to you thru skype.  You’re already preparing to go sleep na.  😦

I am missing you tonight baby.

Anyway, just want to say that you always make mommy so proud.  Daddy emailed me your project today in school.  Wowo and wowa were so proud of you.  They say you were the last to submit your project since your making your kenkoy antics again and putting the robot’s eyes on yours instead. hehehehe.. Kulit kulit mo talaga.  You always know how to make people around you happy!
